2024 TCDA Elementary Honor Choir

2024 TCDA Elementary Honor Choir Results

With thoughtful consideration, the TCDA Board is taking this opportunity to feature three Texans as co-conductors of this year's Honor Choir. Ms. Julie Greer-Stobbe, Mr. Alfonzo Gonzalez, and Mr. Victor Johnson will each lead the choir in two pieces during their final concert and will equally divide the rehearsal time with the ensemble. We are excited to feature these talented musicians in this way.

Alfonso Michael Gonzalez, a native of Brownsville TX, is a proud alumnus of the University of Texas Rio Grande Valley where he studied with Dianne Brumley, Director Emeritus of Choral Studies and voice professors Amy Hymel Brownlow and Dr. Daniel Hunter-Holly.

He is currently the Assistant Choir Director at Harlingen High School and serves as Co-Music Director at Treasure Hills Presbyterian Church.  Prior to this, he was an Assistant Choir Director at James “Nikki” Rowe High School in McAllen Texas and Elementary Music Teacher at Landrum Elementary in San Benito Texas.

Notably, Gonzalez was named Landrum Elementary’s 2017-2018 Teacher of the Year and has provided professional development sessions for San Benito C.I.S.D., Harlingen C.I.S.D. and the Rio Grande Valley Orff Chapter.

Gonzalez has performed as a both a soloist and chorus member for many organizations and events, including performing at the T.C.D.A. Convention with the Rio Grande Valley’s professional chorus “Pasión”, under the direction of Dr. Eric Posada.

Gonzalez has been the featured clinician for the Harlingen C.I.S.D. Elementary Honor Choir and looks forward to his upcoming engagements with the 2024 Brownsville I.S.D. Elementary Honor Choir, 2024 San Benito C.I.S.D. 5th Grade Honor Choir and 2024 T.C.D.A. Elementary Honor Choir.

Julie is humbled and honored to work with this year’s talented young singers. She and her husband live in The Woodlands, TX, with their four hermit crabs and a regal tuxedo cat, Luciano.
